Billion funding drive solar boom to continue

Not only is the government funding, but also the electricity price rises, thanks to billions in loans which the KfW development bank has promised since 2010. 2010 probably the new record year for the solar boom will be.

Since the prolonged debate by cutting back on subsidies for solar system operator now being implemented in two steps (from 1 July and 1 October 2010), the Germans are building up speed: photovoltaic systems on their roofs.

According Spiegel.de has information showing that granted by the state development bank KfW in the first half of 2010 alone PV systems for loans of 5 billion euros, more than in the entire previous year 2009th

Although other renewable energies are promoted by KfW, such as Biogas, wind energy and thermal storage, yet have the credit for photovoltaics by far the largest circumference.

Meanwhile, criticism is voiced that the solar industry is over-supported by cheap credit.

Especially occurs thanks to the funding policy is not to many Germans acclaimed Effect:

Electricity prices may rise, because the power providers are forced to buy the power and this is partly due to overloading of the network, again cheap (or even paid on it) sold abroad.

Unfortunately, it remains so, that get other technologies, especially the expansion of the electricity network (keyword “Smart Grid”) less support. But just this expansion would be necessary for both the solar energy and other renewable energies to make the future.

In the long term would benefit both the solar industry and the citizens.
